More Models Planned
Ather is also working on additional models using the new platform. These include an Ather S with a claimed range of 200 km and a higher-feature version of the Z, with a claimed 125-km Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range.
The company expects the new products to help expand its presence, particularly in North and Central India.
₹2,000 Crore Manufacturing Expansion
Ather is also setting up a manufacturing facility at Aurangabad Industrial City in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
The company plans to invest around ₹2,000 crore in the facility, which is expected to have the capacity to produce up to one million electric vehicles and battery packs annually.
Ather's Expansion Strategy
The investment in the new platform and manufacturing facility comes as electric two-wheeler companies compete to reach a larger section of the Indian market.
For Ather, a wider product range and increased production capacity could help the company compete across different price segments and expand into more markets.
Editorial Insight | Signature Media News
Ather's investment shows the company's focus on reaching a wider customer base in India's growing electric two-wheeler market. Expanding its products while increasing manufacturing capacity could help Ather strengthen its position beyond the premium segment.
